Kate Richardson
EDUCATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGIST
BA(Hons); MPsych(Ed & Dev); MAPS
Kate is a registered educational and developmental psychologist who is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She works with presentations of anxiety, low mood, poor self-esteem, neurodivergence, life adjustment difficulties, attachment trauma, sleep disturbance, and relationship and social skill difficulties. Alongside her clinical experience, Kate has also worked as a psychologist within school settings, where she is dedicated to advocating for the needs of young people in the education system.
Kate's therapeutic approach is neuroaffirming, attachment focussed, and trauma informed. She has a particular interest in assisting parents to better understand their children’s emotional needs and views all behaviour as emotional communication. Kate has trained as a Circle of Security Parenting facilitator (COS-P) and takes delight in witnessing parents develop secure bonds with their children and gain greater self-efficacy in their role. She takes an ‘emotion coaching’ approach to support young people to self-regulate and manage their stress responses.
In addition, Kate has experience in a variety of treatment models such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), schema therapy, and mindfulness. She is also familiar with assessments for cognitive ability, learning difficulties, and behavioural issues. Kate takes a compassionate and strength-based approach in assisting her clients and their families to manage challenges and achieve desired outcomes.
Kate is registered with the Australian Board of Psychology, holds an endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology, and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
