Aesthetics

Minded Psychology was designed and styled with emotion in mind. Research has found that the way we feel in our environment has a significant influence over our mental and physical wellbeing. It was for this reason that the aesthetics at Minded Psychology were designed to ensure people feel calm, comfortable, nurtured and safe in their surroundings, while doing such vulnerable work.

When you arrive, please feel free to make yourself a cup of tea/coffee or pour yourself a glass of water.

The Bay Trail

Minded Psychology is located on the beach in Beaumaris. If you are waiting for a family member, happen to be early to your session or have some time free after your session, we would love to encourage you to go for a walk along the Bay Trail. The Bay Trail is a beautiful and calming walk along the cliff’s edge through Beaumaris Beach Foreshore Reserve.

The beginning of the trail is only a few minutes’ walk from the practice. You can find it by turning left on Beach Road and walking for 350 metres. The entrance to the Bay Trail is just after Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron. The Bay Trail has a number of lookout points across the bay, which offer a serene location for mindfulness, meditation or reflecting on your session. Feel free to grab a coffee or a tea at one of our neighbouring cafes and take full advantage of the time you have prioritised for your healing.

Animal Assisted Therapy

A common model of therapy at Minded Psychology includes Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). AAT is a type of therapy that involves animals as a form of treatment and has proven to have a number of benefits for emotional and physical health. You may come across one of our certified therapy dogs while at Minded Psychology so please notify us in advance if you or your child has a dog phobia.

Evidence for AAT appears strongest for markers of anxiety and depression but there are a number of other benefits to having animals in therapy. Our certified therapy dogs help to strengthen rapport between practitioner and client; help to lower blood pressure, anxiety and stress; offer empathetic comfort; assist in emotional regulation; and model healthy relationships and social skills.
